- AFMC2024 is being held from Sunday 1 December to Thursday 5 December inclusive.
- On Sunday 1 December, we will hold a Welcome Reception at Hotel Realm, starting from 5:30 pm and running to around 7:00 pm.
- The main four days of the conference will be from Monday 2 December to Thursday 5 December, starting at 8:15 am or 8:30 am. The sessions will run through to 6:00 pm Monday to Wednesday, and to 4:00 pm on Thursday.
- The registration desk will be open during the Welcome Reception on Sunday, and (depending on staffing) before the conference on Monday to Thursday, for distribution of name tags and kits.
- A special Opening Session is being planned for the morning of Monday 2 December, starting at 8:30am. More details will be posted here in due course.
- Several events are being planned for the evening of Monday 2 December, including the HDR Event, the ECR/MCR Event, and an Invited Speakers and AFMS Council Members dinner.
- The Conference Banquet will be held on the evening of Tuesday 3 December. For details please see our Venues page.
- The Poster Session is being planned for Wednesday 4 December, during and after lunchtime. More details will be posted here soon.
- Several tours are being planned for the mid-afternoon (3:00-6:00 pm) on Wednesday 4 December. We are now going through risk assessments and approvals, and will provide more details when available.
- We are planning a barbecue dinner in a local park on the evening of Wednesday 4 December. This event is pending approval by the ACT Government.
- The Closing Session is being planned for Thursday 5 December, for 3:00 - 4:00 pm. This will include an awards ceremony for the announcement of student awards and prizes.
- A business meeting for AFMS Council Members will be held in the late afternoon on Thursday 5 December, starting at 4:30 pm, running through to around 5:15 pm.
As noted in our Visas and Travel page, due to prevalent Canberra early-morning fog (which causes flight cancellations and delays), we do not recommend flying into Canberra on the morning of Monday 2 December. Instead, we suggest you arrive on Sunday evening, or earlier, so you can enjoy our city and be prepared for the conference.
We are now working on the detailed layout of sessions and oral presentations - more detail will be provided soon.
